Calcium Carbonate – A Relatively Unknown but Important Raw Material

Calcium Carbonate is a chemical compound with the formula CaCO3. It is found in rocks in many parts of the world. But not all deposits are worth quarrying because the application of Calcium Carbonate for industrial, pharmaceutical , medical and other purposes require certain criterias.

 

The most important criterion is purity : the content of CaCO3 in a rock should be at least 98% in order to fulfill the requirements on the part of the different industries.
